The origins

The Red Jackets opened their doors for the first time in 1897 under the name of Brewery Fratelli Reininghaus. In a turn-of-the-century. In turn-of-the-century Florence, it quickly became an elegant, cosmopolitan gathering point in the heart of the city.

1913

Futurism Takes Home

In 1913, the Literary Café became the fulcrum of the Florentine Futurist movement. Artists and writers such as Marinetti, Boccioni and Soffici choose its rooms to discuss, create and launch new ideas destined to revolutionize Italian culture.

1947

The post-war rebirth

After the forced closure due to the war, the Literary Café reopened in 1947, becoming the new meeting place for poets and thinkers of Hermeticism. This confirms its role as the fulcrum of thought and speech.

1980/90

Roller coaster and new ferments

In the Eighties and Nineties, Giubbe Rosse experienced a new season of cultural revival. The literary movement Roller Coaster comes to life, which brings back the vitality of writing to the restaurant's historic tables.

2024

The new beginning of Giubbe Rosse

In 2024, Le Giubbe Rosse reopened after a careful restoration promoted by Faro Alto Investment and carried out by ADR General Contract under the guidance of the architect Domenico Gallucci, who was able to combine respect for history with a contemporary vision.

Today, Coffee is once again a reference point in the heart of Florence, thanks to a new gastronomic course designed by chef Marco Alimena, where tradition and innovation meet in an authentic Florentine identity.
